Bradford Station
About this event:
The Bradford Station Bandwas founded by leader Brad Henty in San Francisco in 1990 as a vehicle for his blues songwriting and guitar improvisation. The band quickly gathered attention in the Bay Area blues scene and won the South Bay Blues Awards “Best New Band”. The award show had them opening in a large theatre in San Jose for the likes of Albert Collins, Harvey Mandel, Buddy Miles, Lydia Pense, and a host of Bay Area stars.
Other shows included Rick Derringer, Dixie Dregs, and Taj Mahal. But that wasn’t the first bit of recognition for this Charleston, SC native guitarist and singer/songwriter. His other musical lives included almost every genre of American music including fusion-jazz and country music. He won the Wrangler-Dodge Country Music contest for New Mexico along with the NM based Three Legged Willie band and went on to play at Opryland and the Acuff Theatre in Nashville.
Brad has written dance music and performed live with the Peninsula Ballet Theatre in the San Francisco Bay Area and the Robert Ivey Ballet in Charleston. Since coming home to Charleston, South Carolina in 1995, Brad has performed with The Charleston SymphonyOrchestra together with Darius Rucker and with Bradford Station has played all over the southeast, more recently in concert and festival settings. The band also plays corporate and wedding events on a regular basis, either as a blues/jazz act or a more traditional variety group.
Past releases include Backside Blues (available from the artist) and First Light (out of print). The current release, Welcome to the World showcases Henty and company stretching out from Blues into Latin and Western styles and features Nashville pianist Patience Clements and a stellar group of musicians.
