Derek Cribb is a native of Charleston, SC. As the youngest of two older musician brothers, he was born into a creative setting that has permeated throughout his life. At age 7 he taught himself how to play piano on his own. This was followed by drums, bass, guitar, and vocals. By age 13 he was asked to score Bambini Artisti’s Italian version of ”Pinocchio”, produced by Charleston Theatre Works. He also played the starring role of Pinocchio’s maker, Maestro Nosso Rosso.

Throughout Derek’s adolescence he was constantly surrounded by artistic influences through Charleston’s vibrant music scene. In his teenage years and into early adulthood Derek helped to form multiple bands such as Charleston City Papers’s #1 voted local band “Sol Driven Train”. At age 20 he moved to Los Angeles, CA to join his older brothers as a drummer/singer songwriter for their collaboration “The Cribb”.

They independently released an LP titled “Theo Wilson Square” which not only gained the attention and praise of fans and industry professionals alike, but found its way onto the airwaves of KTLA and the soundtracks of feature films. The Cribb gigged up and down the Western Coast of the U.S. including Seattle, San Fransisco, and Las Vegas. They became very well known in the LA area, consistently packing out venues such as Sunset Blvd’s House of Blues, and prestigious venues such as The Viper Room and The Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach.

During his time in Los Angeles Derek also worked full time as the Assistant to the Director of the Producers and Engineers Wing for The Grammy’s (NARAS), where he interacted with some of the most legendary producers, engineers, musicians, and industry professionals of all time.

As an audio engineer himself, he has recorded and mastered live performances of world-class acts such as Snoop Dogg and the Snoopadelics and Slightly Stoopid as well as writing and producing with Sadler Vaden, singer songwriter and guitarist for bands such as Drivin’ and Cryin, and Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit. He has also written and recorded tracks for nationally broadcasted commercials as well as Emmy Nominated television programming.

Derek is considered one of the most talented artists in all of Charleston.
